

Wanetta was born in Decatur County on December 25, 1925, the daughter of Earl and Dorothy Boicourt Borden. After living a life of faith, gratitude, and trust in God she passed away peacefully on March 23, 2013. She was a 1943 graduate of Greensburg High School. On July 7, 1945 she married Howard “Foxy” Hornberger in Greensburg and he preceded her in death October 30, 1998.
Wanetta has been a member of the First Christian Church of Greensburg since her baptism on May 31, 1942. She was also a past member of Sigma Chapter Psi Iota Xi, Department Club, Christian Fellowship of Women, Child Study Club, and the Greensburg Country Club.
Wanetta lifted spirits with her sweet personality and enjoyed her work and volunteering. She will truly be remembered for the laughter and beauty she brought to the lives of others.
She was also a dedicated wife and mother and will be missed by two daughters Jo Ann (Steve) Meyer and Susan (Ross) Davis both of Greensburg, one son William Hornberger of Northville, MI, one brother Delton Dee Borden of Florida, six grandchildren Christina Noles, Robin Shelata, Arin Rafanowicz, Sandra Davis, Jennifer Clevenger, Stuart Meyer, and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son Richard Hornberger, one sister Virginia Johnson, and one brother Earl Borden.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 4PM – 8PM at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Wanetta’s funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 28 at 10AM at the First Christian Church on Broadway Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, Our Hospice of Decatur County, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
