Earl V. Bricker, age 92 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Saturday December 21, 2013 at 6:02 PM at Reid Hospital, Richmond, Indiana. He was born May 22, 1921 in Celina, Ohio the son of the late John K. & Mabel (Rush) Bricker. He served in the pacific theater in United States Army during World War II as a cook and a medic. His combat service began in Australia, and he “island hopped” threw New Guinea and the Philippines, and then ended as part of the occupation of Japan. He worked as a Mechanic and Press Operator at Goodyear in St. Mary’s for 28 years retiring in 1979 he then worked for 15 years at Plants of Ruskin in Florida as a Master Gardener.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church; and a life member of D.A.V. in Wapakoneta.
He is preceded in death by his parents; & brothers: Bevan & Lester Bricker.
He is survived by his wife: Laura L. (Young) Bricker of Greenville whom he married April 7, 1947; daughters & son in law: Laura Lee Marshall of Omaha, NE., Sandra Jayne & Pete Wolf of Piqua; grandchildren: Michael Nesbitt, Jill Nesbitt, Dannielle Marshall, Kylle Dietz, Chet Knous, & Lacie Schuller; 16 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brothers & sisters in law: Don & Donna Bricker of Celina, Carl & Barb Bricker of Greenville, Gene Bricker of Indianapolis, IN.
Services will be held on Saturday December 28, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Terry Haworth officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys, Ohio. Family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday December 27, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Disabled American Veterans, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
