Jack was born the third of five children to Ray and Ethel (Barga) Horner and grew up on the family farm southeast of Gettysburg. He was a graduate of Gettysburg High School’s Class of 1956.
Jack was a farmer and would live the entirety of his life in Darke County. He married the love of his life, Gloria Jean Kuhnle of New Madison, on August 2nd, 1959, and together they would have three sons - Kevin, David, and Michael. He loved being a father and later enjoyed being a grandfather and great grandfather.
Jack had a quick wit and a kind and compassionate heart. He was a man of integrity and a man of faith. He was competitive in almost everything he did, especially so when it came to sports such as tennis, racquetball, and ping pong.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the staff at the Brethren’s Home and EverHeart Hospice for their exceptional care and kindness given to Jack.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Ken Horner and Don Horner; his sister Linda Best; his half-brother Richard Horner; as well as other family members and in-laws.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gloria Horner; his sons, Kevin Horner, David (Kami) Horner, and Michael (Chris) Horner; his grandchildren, Matthew (Ginger) Horner, Jaden (Lexi) Horner, Rachael (Cayla) Horner, Marcus (Hannah) Horner, and Rayna Horner; his great-grandchildren, Crosby Horner and Carson Horner; his sister, Jean (David) Mogle; his brother-in-law, Roger Best; and his nieces, nephews, and cousins.
