Jim was born on August 7, 1950, in Darke County, to the late Richard H. “Red” & Marjorie E. (Russell) Lyme. Jim was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, John Archey.
Jim is survived by his wife of 34 years, Beverly (Stanley) Yohey Lyme whom he married July 25, 1992; 3 bonus sons & daughters-in-law, Rex & Lorraine Yohey of North Carolina, Douglas & Sheri Yohey of Troy, and Brian Yohey & partner, Sara of Troy; 1 bonus daughter & son-in-law, Tammi & John Painter of Bradford; daughters & sons-in-law, Shelly & Tony Arnett of Bradford and Shannon & Wayne Cooper of Celina; sons, Keith Lyme and Kevin Lyme; grandchildren, Kayla, Kory, Kassie, Eleanor, Emily, Steven, Shelly, Katie, and Corey Yohey, Tommy Hall, Drew Hall, Austin Painter, Donovan Painter, Martha Guiterrez, Migual Guiterrez, Jessica Bohman, Parker Lyme, Wesley, Courtney, and Wyatt Cooper; 25 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters & brother-in-law, Nancy & Ron Brewer of Versailles, and Linda Archey of Gettysburg; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Larry & Kate Stanley of Indiana and Dick & Michelle Stanley of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended pony family, and friends.
Jim retired from Kamps Pallets in Versailles. Jim was an avid pony enthusiast, having showed ponies since the age of 10 in numerous County and State Fairs. Jim, along with his wife, Bev owned Willowlawn Stables. He was a member of the Area 2 Shetland Pony Club, American Shetland Pony Club, and Western Ohio Pony Breeders Association.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice or the Cancer Association of Darke County.
