

Marcella was born on November 27, 1937, on a farm outside of North Star to the late Leonard & Marie (Gigandet) Marshal. She was also preceded in death by her 1st husband, Jerry A. Klosterman on July 19, 1978, whom she married November 3, 1956; son-in-law, Cloyd Bergman; and siblings & in-laws, Mary Evelyn & Ernie Adams, Thelma & Willard Speck, Lucille & Lawrence Monnin, Luella & Rich Lochetfeld, Joe Marshal, Junior & Mabel Marshal, John & Connie Marshal, and Linda Marshal.
Marcella is survived by her husband, Robert Downing whom she married October 3, 2014; children, Bill Klosterman & Charlotte Kissinger of Ft. Recovery, Deb & Ron Brunswick of Chickasaw, and Pam Bergman of Ft. Recovery; grandchildren, Michelle & Shawn Jones, John Brunswick, Brad & Maria Bergman, Tana & Corey Sudhoff, and Zach Bergman; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; siblings & in-laws, Joan Marshal, Gene Marshal, and Karen Marshal; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marcella worked at Marsh Supermarket in Greenville for 40 years. She enjoyed spending her time with co-workers and customers. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville. Marcella along with Bob loved to travel and go dancing. Marcella enjoyed working in her flower beds, crocheting, and making Afghans out of yarn for all her family. She loved spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marcella was known for her big smile and wonderful laugh.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at Miami Valley Hospital and Upper Valley Medical Center, and the Nurses and Nurse’s Aide at EverHeart Hospice for their wonderful care and treatment that was given to Marcella.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 233 West 3rd Street Greenville with Rev. Fr. Matt Feist celebrant. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville.
