Marilyn Wirrig

June 10, 1935September 30, 2021

Marilyn Edna Wirrig, age 86 of Greenville, Ohio passed away peacefully on September 30, 2021 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio. Born in Darke County, Ohio on June 10, 1935, she was one of 5 children to the late Minor & Mildred (North) Anderson. On August 14, 1954 she married the love of her life, Walter “Bud” Wirrig, and they raised 3 children. Marilyn had worked at Kroger in Greenville for 35 years, before retiring as a cashier. She was an amazing cook, and made the most comforting and heartfelt meals. She and Bud enjoyed going to auctions; and you would often find her out mowing the yard on her John Deere tractor, tending to her flower garden; and keeping her home sparkling clean. Marilyn loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very sincere and had a way of bringing comfort and joy to those around her; she had a heart of gold. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her Husband Walter “Bud” Wirrig in 2014: brother Steve Anderson.

Survived by her children Vickie & Mark Brinley; John Wirrig; Mike Wirrig of Colorado Springs, CO: grandchildren Matt & Ashlee Brinley; Jaime & Matt Roseberry; Wes & Claire Wirrig; Whitney & Ryan Yingst: great-grandchildren Lyla, Maddox; Willow and Ashton Brinley; Ava and Ella Roseberry; Charlotte, Max and Lucy Wirrig; Blakely and Ryleigh Yingst: brothers Jack Anderson; Kenny & Carolyn Anderson; Wayne & Gieslla Anderson: as well as many family members and friends.

A public graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 11:30 AM at Harris Creek Cemetery, Bradford, Ohio with Pastor Todd Reish presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice.

Marilyn was a dear friend. My memories working with her at Kroger are treasures. Her smiles, kindness, and words of encouragement and wisdom live on in my life. The imprint of her life on mine was profound and I am eternally grateful.

So many deep rooted memories of Marilyn. My childhood was living in the house next door. She was a part of my childhood. My sympathies and prayers go out to Vicki, John and Michael that you will find comfort during this time of grief.

Marilyn was genuinely one of the sweetest people I have ever known and one of my “second moms” throughout high school. I was very sad to hear the news but am glad that she is reunited with Walter “Bud”. I’m sure he’s already doing something to aggravate her. All my love to Vickie, John, and Mike.

My deepest sympathy to the family. Marilyn and I have been good friends starting with first grade and graduating in 1953 for a total of 80 years. We shared so much together over the years and was truly a beautiful caring person. She will be missed.
