Melvin Conner, age 93 of Greenville, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 1:30 AM at Koester Pavilion Nursing Home, Troy, Ohio. Born in Bradford, Ohio on June 3, 1928 he was a son to the late Patrick H. & Florence (Nyman) Conner. Melvin was a proud United States Air Force veteran, having served from 1950-1954, and was a Greenville High School Graduate, class of 1946. During his senior year he was the state track champion, and set the records for the 100 & 220 yard dash; which still stands to this day; in turn earning the nickname “Fastest man in Darke County”. He was also in the Greenville Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a member of the American Legion Post 140 and the Moose Lodge #329. In his younger years he enjoyed golfing and bowling. Melvin liked watching Ohio State University, and the Cincinnati Bengals football games. He will be truly missed. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Shirley (Mullenix) Conner, whom he married October 29, 1955: great-granddaughter Hayden Michelle Stewart: brothers Patrick Henry Conner; James Conner: sister Mary Belt.
Survived by his children Christopher & Barbara Conner; Kimberly & Richard Whalen; Stacey & Marvin Baker; Kelly & Tim Stump: grandchildren Clint Lickteig; Jerry Lee Lickteig; Shawna Stewart; Brooks Glidewell; Shad McClure; Christina Laux; Mandy Stump; Cody Stump: numerous great-grandchildren, neices, nephews, and extended family members.
