Ricky David Bowlin, M.D., 65, of Greenville, Ohio, passed peacefully at 10:18 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, surrounded by family after a three-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. Born September 18, 1960, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Britton and Gwendolyn (Fraley) Bowlin, he was raised in Columbus, Ohio.
Dr. Bowlin practiced Internal Medicine for more than 30 years, spending most of his career at Family Health Center. He served his patients and the community he cared for deeply, including on numerous hospital and community boards.
A devoted husband to Dr. Julia Bowlin and proud father to Josephine and Britton, Ricky adored his family and had a rare gift for drawing people close, forming deep and lasting relationships. He made everyone feel like they mattered. Sentimental, stubborn, and determined to live fully, he loved hiking, turning wood into beautiful bowls, learning guitar, watching Turner Classic Movies, cheering on Ohio State Buckeye football, traveling, and visiting Disney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Britton and Gwendolyn (Fraley) Bowlin, and his brother, Donald Prym. He is survived by his brother, Terry (Kathy); sister-in-law, Mary; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In his final days, he was cared for by his family with the support and compassion of EverHeart Hospice in Greenville.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, March 2, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at Family Health Center, in the Community Room of the east addition. Friends, family, patients, and community members are invited to share fond memories and the love of this kind man.
