Allen Freeman Cantrell, age 76, husband of Carole Anne Unick Cantrell, sadly passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015 after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War, and upon his return to the States, he was sent to Montana where he achieved rank of Captain in Strategic Air Command. After serving in the military, he worked in the family hardware business until he found his calling in the power and energy market in sales. Allen loved his family, friends, his dogs, laughter, golf & scotch, and life in general.
Surviving, in addition to his loving wife, are his children, Allen Cantrell, Susan Petroff, and John Cantrell; a son-in-law, Steve Petroff; and his grandson, Jake Petroff, whom he cherished. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Brunson Cantrell, who he idolized.
A celebration of Allen's life will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, June 27, 2015 in the chapel of The Mackey Mortuary, with a reception to follow at the mortuary.
A private burial will be at a later date in MJ "Dolly Cooper" Veteran's Cemetery, Anderson, SC.
The family wishes to thank everyone involved in his life and those who cared for him during his long, arduous struggle, during which he never complained: Doctors' Quddus, Awan, Johnson, and Acres are phenomenal.
A special thank you to all the ladies at the Cancer Treatment Center, Tessie especially.
He will be loved and missed always.
