Born in Greenville, SC, he was a son of the late Dr. Henry Fulton Ross and Katherine Carpenter Ross. He was a member of Nell Townsend Presbyterian Church. Allen was a graduate of USC Upstate Spartanburg and Montreat College in Montreat, NC.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Miller; a daughter, Katherine Carpenter Blake (Mark); a brother, H. Fulton Ross, Jr. (Fran); an aunt, Katherine Ellen Ross; and numerous cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 2:30pm in the Chapel of The Mackey Mortuary. A brief reception will follow.
