Ann (Nancy) Ennis Duchaine, 86, loving wife, devoted mother, adored Nanny and Great-Nanny, sister, Aunt, cousin, and cherished friend to many, passed away peacefully on Jan. 29th, 2024 in Greenville, SC.
Born in Dublin, Ireland, Nancy was an adventurous daughter to James and Chrissy Ennis and raised with her six siblings, Michael, Desmond, Brendan, Maureen, Noel and Kathleen.
Nancy left Ireland at the age of 18 and immigrated to Connecticut where she met the love of her life, Ray. They married in 1961 and raised their family in South Windsor, CT. Although she was afflicted with RA at the age of 24, Nancy’s zest for life and determination kept her moving forward and enjoying life. She loved to travel, especially to Ireland, cook, shop, play cards, sit on the beach, and play a few slots at the casino with her bestie, Rita. Nancy and Ray retired and moved to South Carolina in 2004.
If you were fortunate enough to sit at the kitchen table with her and have a cup of tea or a glass of wine, you knew you were in the presence of someone who was strong, kind, caring, generous, and loved to laugh. Her beautiful smile and contagious laugh, blessed any of those lucky enough to be in her presence. She loved her family and her friends deeply.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, James and Chrissy Ennis, her brothers Michael, Desmond and Brendan Ennis, and her sister Kathleen Hughes.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ray, daughter Patti Bryan (Greg), daughter Raeann Roderick (Scott), grandchildren Michelle Bryan, Kristen Bryant (Andrew), Amanda, Bryce and Caitlin Roderick and her great-grands, Erianna, Imogen and Tycen. Her brother Noel Ennis (Jacqueline), her sister Maureen Mohan, and her brothers-in-law Don Grous, and Tony Hughes, as well as several nieces and nephews.
When you speak of her, speak not with tears, for thoughts of her should not be sad. Let the memories of the times you shared give you comfort, for her life was rich because of you!
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s foundation.
A celebration of life for Nancy will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
