Anne Click Manos joined her beloved husband, Dr. Peter G. Manos, in heaven August 7, 2021, exactly six months after him. Anne was born in 1932 to C.V. Click and Margie Owen Click in Mooresville, NC and her family eventually settled in Greenville, SC, making it their home. Anne was a 1950 graduate of Greenville High School, participating in many clubs, and president of Phi Delta Psi Sorority. She was named Beauty Queen of the Citadel. She attended Furman University as well as University of South Carolina.
Anne met her cherished Pete on a blind date. He took her up in the air in his Piper Tri-Pacer, and they soared together in life and marriage from 1953 until his death in February, 2021.
She was known for her extraordinary sewing skills, stitching the majority of her wardrobe, most notably her exquisite cocktail dresses and formalwear, seen often at the many events at Ramsgate Country Club, where she planned and booked entertainers, weddings, and dances, helping bring Pete's dream of the first inclusive country club to Greenville. Her family fondly remembers her culinary skills along with her communal fridge and knew they could always stop by her home to find a nourishing meal on the stove, as she cooked for an army, even when her cadre of children had left to start homes of their own. No stained clothing stood a chance in Anne's laundry room. Legend has it she removed a mustard stain out of suede, and it is a fact if you had Southern red clay on your baseball pants, she could obliterate it. Her request for a Pepsi--but rinse the ice first--will be missed.
Anne was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where she was also a member of the Philoptochos Society and Daughters of Penelope.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Jean Ashley (Bernum); her children G. Peter Manos (Linnie), Mark Manos, Michael Manos (Mitzi), Lee Ann Manos-Vieira (Rob), and Timothy Manos (Larri); 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today Monday, August 9, 2021 from 6 – 8 pm at Mackey at Century Drive, Greenville, SC with a Trisagion service at 7:30 PM.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Greenville, SC at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
