Born in Sylva, NC, Barbara was a daughter of the late Gilbert Kent and Gladys Verona Bess.
She was a member of First Baptist Greenville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Kent Bess, Jr. and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Brian Carson.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Coy Wallace Carson; her son, David Brian Carson; her daughter, Cynthia Carson, a son-in-law,The Rev. Daniel Brown of Madison, GA; a sister, June Bess Anderson (Paull); and 5 grandchildren, David Wallace Brown and MaryCarson Brown, Charlotte Bess Carson, Cynthia Clair Carson, and Salley Elizabeth Carson.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm Monday, December 14, 2015 at First Baptist Greenville with the Rev. Dr. Baxter Wynn officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Marie Taylor Lunsford for her loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Missions at First Baptist Greenville , or the charity of one’s choice.
