Dee was born December 12, 1939 in Greenville, South Carolina to Bessie K. and J.T. Cothran.
Dee was always the outgoing, adventurous girl, who danced her way through life. She left home in her late teens to pursue her love of dance as a June Taylor dancer in NYC, New York. During this time, she was introduced to her handsome future husband, Jim. Soon after marrying the love of her life, she partnered to open D’Marge Dance Studio in Newton, NJ. In the late 1970’s she took full ownership and made D’Marge, Sussex County’s largest dance studio, which included the retail store, Kel-Kim. In the mid 1980’s she moved back to Greenville, SC where she quickly returned to teaching dance for her childhood instructor, LaBruce Heist; eventually opening smaller studios in both Mauldin & Clinton, SC. Dee’s lifelong love of dance allowed her to touch the lives of many. When the years no longer allowed her to move as gracefully, she followed her husband’s dream and worked at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN in the Sweet Shoppe until the end of 2008.
Dee was a member of Mt. Holly United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, South Carolina. While healthy, she was an active member of the Mt. Holly Seniors.
Dee is survived by her children; son James C. Price Jr. (Erin) of Woodstock, CT; daughter Kellett E. Short (Craig) of Simpsonville, SC; daughter Kimberly N. Mitchell (Mark) of Rock Hill, SC; son Ashley M. Grant (Krista) of Tallahassee, FL; son Charlie D. Grant of Anderson, SC; daughter Sandra C. Price (Anthony) of Charlotte, NC and Deborah A. Cumings (Michael), of Lodi, NY, whom spent many years with the Price family. Her two brothers; Roland Cothran (Marion) and Steve Cothran (Marta) both of Simpsonville, SC. Numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins including her lifelong partners in crime; Brenda Barker, Libby Price and Rina Earl.
The source of her unwavering strength is her love for her grandchildren; Conner Short, Kendyll Short (Michael), Hunter Mitchell, Nathan Price, Gillian Price, Makenzie Mitchell, Jake Mitchell and Linkston Grant.
Dee was preceded in death by her loving husband, of 43 years, James C. Price; mother Bessie K. Cothran and father J.T. Cothran.
