Born December 8th, 1923 in Bellevue, Kentucky, she was the fourth of seven children to John Paul and Isabelle Maschinot Krebs. She married George Sheldon Baron on October 14th, 1950 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky.
Bessie and George lived all over the southeast, including Kentucky, Indiana, Alabama, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, and Tennessee. Bessie’s life was built around God, family and friends. She was actively involved and volunteered in the Catholic Church and served in the Altar Guild. She was an active member of Newcomers, New Friends and Bridge Clubs where she met life-long friends and joined Beta Sigma Phi social sorority while living in Louisville, Kentucky.
Bessie and George retired to Asheville, NC in 1984 where they attended church daily, and Bessie continued to give her time and passionate heart to the Church. They enjoyed the Country Club of Asheville where they attended many events and enjoyed family get togethers. Whether it was water aerobics, a black-tie event, a family reunion, or a gathering place before going to the Symphony, Bessie enthusiastically signed up to attend.
A devoted mother and grandmother, nothing made her happier than spending time with her children and grandchildren. She gave everyone the best things in life: love, kindness and her delicious cooking! Her sense of humor was contagious, and she was loved by all that were fortunate enough to meet her. Bessie was an avid card player, enjoyed working in the yard, delighted in shopping and finding the perfect gift for others, loved to travel, couldn’t turn down a good piece of chocolate and felt the best when she was at the beach with her feet in the sand.
In 2003, after Bessie’s devoted husband, George, passed away, she moved to Greenville, South Carolina to be closer to her oldest daughter Linda. She attended church at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and spent her time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Bessie and George were loving parents and are survived by their four children David George Baron of Greer, SC, Linda Baron Davis Vaughan (spouse Stewart) of Duncan, SC, John Christopher Baron (spouse Christy) of Miramar Beach, FL , Mary Jennifer Baron Blanchard (spouse Jeff) of Southlake, TX; ten grandchildren Nathan Davis (spouse Claudia), Tiffany Davis Foxworth (spouse Pres), Paige Baron Brown, Leslie Baron, Trevor Baron (spouse Vivian), Chelsea Baron Pugh (spouse Scott), Cullen Baron (spouse Jordan), Austin Blanchard, Destin Blanchard and Eric Blanchard; eight great-grandchildren Alejandra Lora, Ethan Davis, Wills Foxworth, Kennedy Foxworth, Raith Moss, Alivia Pugh, Kayleigh Pugh, Robert Pugh; and siblings Butch Krebs (spouse Dottie) and Rose Krebs Schertler.
