Jo was born on May 13, 1931 in Greenville, SC. She was raised in a Christian home by her aunt Effie and B.F. Edwards. She met Bobby Carver at New Liberty Baptist Church in 1949 and they were married on June 2, 1950. They built a home and started their family. She worked at Woolworth's in downtown Greenville at the lunch counter. She later worked at Stone Manufacturing as a floor supervisor. She had various positions but never let her work come before her family.
She is survived by her husband of 76 years, Bobby Gene Carver; children Michael Carver (Terri) and Mitzi Carver; grandchildren Lindsey Carver Brown (Craig), Lindsay Gibbons Addis (Brian), Chrissie Gibbons Browning (Brad), Katherine Gibbons Davis (Jason) and Richie Gibbons (Candy) along with 12 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 2, 2026 at 1:30 PM in the chapel at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn, 1 Pine Knoll Dr. Greenville, SC 29609.
