Betty H McGinnis

Born in Gray Court, SC, she was the daughter of the late Teague Gray and Cleo Ward Harris.

She was a 1937 graduate of Furman University, member of the Buncombe Street United Methodist Church, the Crescent Community Club, the Retired Officers Wives Club and served on the Board of Directors of Sarah Gossett Nursing Home.

Betty was predeceased by her husband Retired Col. Roger Lee McGinnis.

She is survived by two daughters: Merry A. Johnson of Greer and her friend Roy Haufmann and Martha L. Snee and her husband Michael of Columbus, OH; a son: Lt. Col. Michael Harris McGinnis and his wife Debbie of Dayton, OH; a sister: Lou Gray Cline of Greenville; a brother: Retired Col. Teague Gray Harris, Jr. of Austin, TX; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staffs of The Gardens at Eastside and Open Arms Hospice for their loving care given Betty.

Funeral service will be Monday, August 23, 2010 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Lung Assn. of SC, 11 Brenden Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
