Betty Snyder Panosian, 91, of Greenville, beloved wife of the late Edward M. Panosian, was ushered into the presence of her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, November 28, 2022. She was born January 18, 1931, in Vanderbilt, PA, to the late George and Mary Haller Snyder. She entered Bob Jones University in 1947, where she earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Interpretative Speech. She did further work at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Appointed to the faculty of the Bob Jones University Division of Speech Communication, she taught generations of students for 48 years until her retirement from the classroom in 2001.
Mrs. Panosian was often a participant in University Vespers programs, Classic Players Shakespearean productions, Unusual Films productions, and radio station WMUU programs, including—for decades—her popular Friday evening “Stories for Kids, with Betty Panosian.”
Mrs. Panosian is survived by two sons and their wives, Mark Edward and Oonagh (Shultz) of Greenville and Matthew Ian and Amy (Price) of Greer; her daughter, Lisa Noel of Taylors; granddaughter, Ghevont, and grandsons, Nazar, Ethan, Benjamin, and Micah; and brother, George Snyder of Carmichael, CA. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Pietsch, and a brother, Roy Snyder.
A funeral service for Mrs. Panosian will be held Sunday, December 4, 2022, at 3:00 PM in the War Memorial Chapel on the campus of Bob Jones University, 1700 Wade Hampton Blvd., Greenville, SC 29614. A committal service will follow on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 9:00 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
