He was preceded in death by his siblings and his beloved wife, Alma Lillian Clarke Hembree, who passed in 2019.
He is survived by his two daughters, Alissa Hembree and Christina Brooks (Danny), his four grandchildren, Tonya Cochran, Melanie Huff, Chandler Brooks (Jackie) and Landon Brooks (Sydney), and his four great grandchildren, Taylor Huff, Morgan Huff, Forrest Brooks and Millie Brooks.
Calvin served honorably in France and England during World War II where he met and married his bride, Alma, in England. They raised their family in Greenville, South Carolina. Calvin was in insurance sales most of his life where he never met a stranger. Calvin was always giving out pencils and chewing gum to the children on his route.
Calvin and Alma’s favorite place to visit was Tybee Island, Georgia. They enjoyed many special trips with family and friends from England who came to visit over the years.
Calvin was an avid Braves baseball fan even enjoying trips to see them in person. He celebrated his 98th birthday with his great grandson celebrating his first birthday at Truist Park.
Calvin enjoyed being with family most of all. He enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great children as they grew and had adventures of their own.
He was Dad, Dadda, Granddad, Granddaddy and Calvin. A father whose guiding light will always show us the way. A life well lived.
