

Born in Greenville on September 17, 1923, he was the son the the late Romage Felton Bailey and Fannie Hamby Bailey. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth B. Bailey and three brothers; Felton B. Bailey, Clarence W. Bailey, and John W. Bailey.
Survivors include his wife, Elinor Burroughs Bailey; a sister, Thelma B, Mahaffey; 3 step-sons, Denny Burroughs (JoAnn), Tommy Burroughs (Pat), and Lynn Burroughs (Patti); his grandchildren and neices and nephews.
After graduating from Parker High School, Carl enlisted in the Army Air Core on November 19th, 1942 and served in World War II which included The Battle of the Bulge. He received extensive military training from the University of Wisconsin which allowed him to be in the 2nd group that invaded France and was responsible for the early stages of radar. After serving in the military, he worked as an Electronics Engineer until his retirement. Carl was an avid story teller and became an author of various poetry books. Carl was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Greenville, SC.
Services will be held on Friday at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park. The Reverand Rance Sprayberry will be conducting the service. Pallbearers will be Don Miller, Todd Burroughs, Cody Burroughs, Travis Harris, Dennis MaHaffey, Greg Taylor and Hunter MaHaffey. Visitation will be in the chapel at 11:00am with the service following at 12:00pm. The family is at the home.
In leiu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church.
