Carol E. Collier Clement, wife of Ronald Clement and mother of Trey and Drew Collier, died at 11 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at McCall Hospice House in Greenville, South Carolina. She was 59 years of age.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 5 at 11 a.m. at Christ Church in Greenville, officiated by Harrison McLeod, with a reception to follow.
Born to the late William Presley Mills Ellis and Doris Peeler Faggart, Carol was raised in Salisbury, North Carolina.
She graduated from Pfeiffer University with a Nursing (BSN) Degree.
In 1977, she married Charles "Chuck" Collier Jr. and had two children, Charles III and Andrew Manning. In 1990, Chuck passed away after a four-year battle with illness.
In 1993, Carol remarried Ronald Steven Clement and the family relocated to Greenville, South Carolina.
From an early age, Carol was active in the YMCA with a tireless devotion to its cause and community. Active in the Salisbury YMCA, Carol carried this commitment to South Carolina, where she served multiple terms on the Cleveland Street YMCA Board of Directors. In addition, she chaired the YMCA Annual Open Doors Campaign, where her personal efforts to help children and families exceeded more than $1,000,000 in donations. She also served six years as a board member for the YMCA of Greenville Metro Association and eight years as board member for the YMCA of Greenville Endowment Board. Scot Baddley, President and CEO of YMCA Greenville, said "Carol has been a caring friend to so many of us, a model volunteer, and a constant source of inspiration through the way she loved others and supported the causes she cared most about. Carol has served for more than two decades on numerous YMCA boards, hosted countless Y gatherings in her home, and she and her husband Ronnie have been faithful participants at the Caine Halter Family Y. " In addition, Carol was a devoted and faithful member of Christ Church. She served as an Episcopal Church Women's board member, Chair of the All Saints Bazaar, a member of the altar guild, and a wedding director for the church. She was also a dedicated member of St. Catherine's Bible Study. Carol's outreach extended beyond the church and YMCA. She was an active board member of the Cancer Society of Greenville County, a past Hope Ball Chairman, a member of the Rose Ball Committee and a member of the Alta Vista Garden Club.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Steven Clement of Greenville, South Carolina; two sons, Charles Collier, III of Charlotte, North Carolina and Andrew Manning Collier of Woodberry Forest, Virginia; mother Doris Peeler Faggart of Salisbury, North Carolina; stepfather Harris Emerson Faggart of New Orleans, Louisiana; brother William David Ellis of Salisbury, North Carolina; and her Yorkie, Gracie.
