

Born June 11, 1913, she was a daughter of the late John Dalton and Hattie Jane Williams Miller.
She was a former dietician at West Gantt High School and Brandon Elementary and retired from Ivey’s Department Store as a sales associate.
Mrs. Rice was a very active member of West Gantt First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Loyal Sunday School, the WMU, the Church Choir, the Morning Circle and the Young at Heart.
Surviving is her daughter, Jane R. (Gerald K.) Creswell, Sr. of Piedmont; a son, Walter H. (Mary D.) Rice, Jr. of Greenville; a sister, Ruth Swift of Buena Park, CA; five grandchildren, Cathy Creswell (Richard)King, G. Kenneth(Kathy Brown) Creswell, Walter Harold “Hal” (Angel )Rice, III, Mary Jane Rice (Scott) Snyder and James Dennis “Jimmy” (Billie)Rice; twelve great-grandchildren, Brooke (Joe)King, Erin King (Eric) Jackson, Kasey Creswell (John)Knox, Ashton, Adam, Hayne, Anna Grace, Andrew, Ainsley Rice and twins, Katy and John Snyder and J. D. Rice, two great-great granddaughters, Hadley and Olivia Knox.
She was predeceased by 10 siblings.
Services will be held 2 pm Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014 at West Gantt First Baptist Church with Rev. Marshall Fagg officiating. Family will receive friends at the Church 12:45 – 1:45 pm. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to West Gantt First Baptist or a charity of one’s choice.
