Charles served in the Navy during WWII and retired from Southern Bell. He enjoyed spending time at his lake house. He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn Cox Proffitt, his son, Charles B. Proffitt, Jr. and numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter Tracy Proffitt Elder of Liberty, SC and a sister, Hazel Breeding of Florida. He is also survived by four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A graveside service for Charles will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609 .
