He retired from the US Navy after 21 years of service from 1950 – 1971 and having tours in Korea and Vietnam Wars.
Mr. Koon is survived by his wife: Helen Lockskin Koon of Gaffney, SC and a daughter: Dixie L. Henderson; two grandsons: Christopher Koon and Daniel Koon and a daughter-in-law: Glenda Koon, all of Memphis, TN.
A Memorial service will be held Friday, March 23, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home.
