Dr. Clarence Steele Bowen, Jr., “Doc” born on January 3, 1935, Taylors, SC, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on October 4th, 2017. He is predeceased by parents Clarence Steele Bowen and Janie Bob (Gaston) Bowen. He is survived by sons Ross Bowen (Liliana) of Minnetonka, MN and Richard Bowen (Carolyn) of Peachtree City, GA, grandchildren Zack Bowen and Kyle Bowen of Peachtree City, GA, and sister Barbara Bowen Dendy of Greenville, SC, as well as longtime companion and friend Kitty Ross Bowen of Taylors, SC.
Dr. Bowen graduated from the University of South Carolina and Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, where he received on O.D.
Doc was a lover of NASCAR, the USC Gamecocks and formerly of the NFL. He was a patriot and loved America as it should be. The family takes comfort from knowing that Doc was a Christian and is in heaven, now released from worldly troubles.
Visitation will be held at Mackey Mortuary today Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 5:30pm-7:30pm, private burial at Nazareth United Methodist Church Cemetery at a later day.
