Clyde was born March 2, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, and raised by parents Clyde Sr. and Margaret Cruikshank. On June 21, 1952 Clyde married his lifetime love, Leona Van Noort, and they were wed in South Holland, Illinois. Leona passed away April 2019, and they enjoyed their 66 years together.
He is survived by his two daughters, Susan Lynn Smith and her husband Derek Smith of Dover- Foxcroft, Maine, and Amy Jo Myslinski and her husband Brian Myslinski of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Clyde was blessed to have two granddaughters, Amanda Jane Houle and her husband, Kristopher Houle, and Lauren Day and her partner, Mike Guerrette, and a great-grandson, Boden Cooper Houle.
As a young man, Clyde served in the Army National Guard, and his technical skills led him to work for companies such as IBM and Braniff Airlines before starting his own oilfield service company, Instrumentation Services, Inc. He loved his work, which took him traveling across the globe, bringing home stories he would tell of far-off locations and oil rig drama. Clyde loved gardening, golf, and serving his church community. He assumed roles as usher, sang in the choir, and assisted at the church with memorial services.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, August 14, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church of Conroe, located at 2727 North Loop 336, Conroe, Texas.
The family would like to extend deep gratitude and appreciation to Pastor David Green, Reverend Callie Candee, special friends John Haller, Sally DeStefano and Shirley Duke, and all the members of the church for their assistance and caring both now and during our parents’ time as members.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested friends consider donations be made to the church, FPCConroe.org/give.
