July 15, 1942March 23, 2020

Colon Eli Hine, Jr., 77, of Pumpkintown, SC, passed away March 23, 2020. He was born July 15, 1942, in Winston-Salem, NC to Euginia Elizabeth and Colon Eli Hine, Sr. A civil engineer by degree, but a project manager by profession, Eli enjoyed his career at J.E. Sirrine and finally at Day and Zimmerman.

Spending time with his beloved family and good friends was his source of true joy. Eli had a love of motorcycle riding, tinkering around the house, farm, on his vehicles/tractor, and raising exotic birds. These pursuits are what kept him close to the great outdoors for which he had a tremendous love. His enjoyment of music, especially Jazz, involved him in his community and fostered his innate creative talent.

Survivors include daughters, Kimberly Gregory (Chris Gregory-husband), and Allison Berman; sons, Michael Hine, and Scott Jones (Steffani Jones-wife); sisters, Jonnie Tucker, Bobbie Keen, and Colene Voll (Ron Voll-husband); grandchildren, Matthew Berman, Lexie Jones, Krista Gregory, and Carley Gregory; sister–in-law, Nona Kay Kelly (John Kelly-husband); nieces, nephews; numerous cousins and very dear friends scattered across the United States.

His loving wife, Barbara P. Hine, preceded Eli in death.

There will be no services held for this very kind, and loving gentleman.

Eli was such a beautiful soul! I worked for him for 13 years raising exotic baby birds, and never once did I hear an unkind word. He will be greatly missed!

Dear Family,

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of such a dear friend. Michael worked with Eli for 25 years. Our girls knew him as Mr. Eli and were always interested in hearing about his birds.

When God calls our loved ones home, He leaves the gift of memories for us to cherish. We're sure you all have many special memories to share with each other.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all now and in the days ahead. God's blessings.

Rest in peace my brother...

Michael and Cathy Jollie
