

Curtis Wilson McKain, age 100, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026. Born in Whitmire, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Julius and Jessie McKain. Curtis shared his entire adult life with his wife, Billie Margaret Few McKain, until her passing in 2014. He is survived by his son Carey and daughter-in-law Linda; his grandchildren Sarah, Rachel, and Michelle; and great grandchildren Oliver and Lena.
Curtis lived a long life of service, dedication, and faith. As a young man, he served in the Naval Air Corps during World War II. Following his military service, he worked in textiles for 20 years before beginning a 32-year career as a firefighter with Wade Hampton Fire Department. He was loved by his fire department family, and they have been forever loyal. He was a faithful and longtime member of Hampton Heights Baptist Church. Curtis made friends freely. His heart was generous, his laugh was large, and he was quick to help anyone in need whether friend or stranger.
Visitation will be held at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 am. A Funeral Service will take place in the chapel at Mackey 12:00 pm, followed by entombment at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1901 Wade Hampton Blvd, Greenville, SC 29609.
