He was born in Cochran, Georgia where he still has many friends. He was a 28 year heart transplant survivor. He is survived by Pat's sons and family, who he considered his own, Jason and Laura Sykes and their two children, Frankie and Hudson who affectionately called him "Pa" and Andy and Julia Barner and daughter, Allison. He is also survived by his two adult children and many friends.
He is predeceased by his mother, Iris Simpson and father, Alfred Morgan Barrs.
He loved Bluegrass music, Nascar, Diet Coke, and most of all his family and will be greatly missed. According to his wishes, he will be cremated and ashes returned to his wife.
