David W. Congdon of Clifton Park, New York and Landrum, South Carolina passed away Friday, August 4th, 2023. Born in Schenectady, NY on November 14, 1955, he was the son of the late Paul Congdon and Betty Jane Stowell and brother to Jane Congdon of Ballston Spa, New York.
Having spent his childhood and early adult years in upstate NY, Dave learned to love the beauty of the Adirondack mountains with their crystal clear glacial lakes and trout-laden streams. He became an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman.
Most importantly, during those years he became a Christian and studied his Bible to see how his life should be lived. This decision to follow his Lord and Savior, Jesus, laid the foundation for the man of integrity he was to become in both his personal and professional life. He was a man of his word who could be counted on to quietly and efficiently help others and meet the needs of any situation.
Going to work at an early age, Dave gained extensive experience in the development, construction, maintenance and management of multi-housing and commercial properties. While he spent a significant number of years working for firms in the Carolinas, the primary part of his career was spent with DCG Development Company in Clifton Park, NY.
David is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Kathleen Greene and their children Matthew (Kelly), Michael (Jessica), Brooke Whited (Dan) and Katie Di Iulio (Andrew). He was also the proud and loving grandfather of Emily, Ethan, Maddie, Daniel, Claire, Lucas and Tony, Dave will be most remembered for his faith, his deep love of family, his hard work and quick wit and his love of the outdoors. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
A private memorial service will be held at the Congdon residence in upstate SC on Friday, August 11, 2023.
