David HODGKINSON, age 70, of Taylors, South Carolina passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021. David was born April 20, 1951. Born in St. Catherine's Ontario Canada, David was the oldest of 5 children. David respectfully received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology followed by a Masters degree in Business Administration. Having a love for all things analytical, David naturally took his business degree and pursued a career as a Senior Buyer for several companies before landing a position with Bausch and Lomb prior to his retirement.
When not in the office, David could be seen playing golf on any number of the golf courses within the upstate with his friends. He could also be spotted playing his French horn, a love developed all the way back in high school, with the Foothills Philharmonic or at any number of churches in the upstate including Christ Church for their Christmas Eve services. Come Sunday afternoon, anyone who knew David knew exactly where to find him; he would be sitting in his recliner wearing his favorite t-shirt rooting for his favorite football team the Buffalo Bills. And we can certainly never forget his passion for relaxing fishing trips to Raquette River, or anywhere else for that matter, with his son, father-in-law and brother-in-law.
Though David held many titles, positions, and accolades, his favorite by far was that of "Papa" to his 8 beautiful grandchildren. This was evident in the way that he loved, supported, comforted, teased, and played with each and every one of them.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Paul Hodgkinson; 2 sisters, Paula Kons and Katherine Hodgkinson, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clara and Glenn Cooper.
David is survived by his wife, Glenda Hodgkinson; his children, Aaron Hodgkinson (Lindsay) and Mallory Ballew (William); his grandchildren, Eli, Nathaniel, Clara, Zelda, Lydia, Kane, Gunner, and Violet; and 2 sisters Sarah Hodgkinson (James) and Jennifer Smith (Michael).
A private service will be held for the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society of Greenville, 113 Mills Avenue, Greenville, SC, 29605.
