Always smiling and always talking, David Loose made friends everywhere he went, and those friends now join his family in deeply grieving his sudden loss on April 15. David was born in Greenville, SC to Floyd C. Loose of Wisconsin and Margaret Mann Loose of Greenville; they pre-deceased him. A whiz with dates and numbers, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Furman University in 1992 and spent his professional career in accounting, payroll, and human resources, working for many years in Atlanta, GA before moving back to Greenville around the time he retired.
In his spare time, he pinched pennies, enjoyed game nights, meals, and movies with friends, and piddled in the yard with his imaginary lawn mower. He also attended professional hockey games and cheered on the Packers football team. He spent most of his time visiting with beloved neighbors on his screened porch, his favorite “room” in the house. David adored his mother and maintained strong relationships with her (and his) friends Sylvia Danielson, Lynne Cassady, and Sandy Turner, as well as with the warm wider community of the Widowed Persons Organization of Greenville. He leaves behind his sisters Janet Loose Kias (Tom) and Margaret Anne Loose, his niece Stephanie Przestrzelski, his treasured great nieces and nephew Kallie Adebamowo, Aurora and Bjorn Przestrzelski, as well as his long-time close friends Ann Pappas and Tony Holmes.
David found real joy in volunteering and working for Meals on Wheels of Greenville. He believed strongly in the fundamental value of its mission and he lit up and talked exuberantly every time he mentioned his co-workers there. It would be his wish that anyone who desires to make a donation in his honor send it to them at www.mealsonwheelsgreenville.org or 31 Chalmers Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
Services will be held at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609, on April 19, 2026. Visitation will begin at 2:30 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 4:30 pm in the funeral home chapel.
