

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Pamela Grinnell McCauley; son Christopher Henry McCauley of Sydney, Australia; daughter Caroline Miller McCauley of Fayetteville, North Carolina; brother Mickey McCauley of Greenville, South Carolina; and sister Lark Waldrep (Alan) of Greenville, South Carolina. In addition, he is survived by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Martha and Ted Grinnell of Horseheads, New York; sisters-in-law Kim (Scott) Williams and Betsy (Chris) Lowery both of Penn Yan, New York; aunts Joyce McCauley Medlin (Mel) and Joan Gunter McCauley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
David graduated in 1981 from Appalachian State University. After graduation, he owned and operated Mac’s Trusses and Building Components until he sold the company to Builder’s First Source in 2000. He continued with the company until his retirement in 2018.
David was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Greenville Home Builders’ Association and a Life Member and past president of the South Carolina Waterfowl Association. He served as an advisor on several boards including Summit Bank and Grand South Bank. After his retirement, David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and found much pleasure working on his farm and raising cattle.
Visitation with David’s family will take place on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11:00 am at Mackey Funerals and Cremations, 311 Century Drive in Greenville with a celebration of David’s life, following at 12:00 noon in the chapel.
