Denise Rae Stack

She was born on February 17, 1954 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Ronald H. and Helen Louise (Theiss) Ibbotson. Denise later moved to South Carolina during her high school years. Her time in Ohio sparked a lifelong love for Ohio State football. When a game was on, Denise’s enthusiasm filled the room.

Denise shared a loving marriage with Gene, and they would have celebrated 34 years together this coming June. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughters, Crystal Lee Calhoun and Jenny Lynn Jones. Denise and Gene were blessed with five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom lovingly called her “Grandma.” Denise adored children and took great joy in being surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of love that will live on in all who knew her.

Above all else, Denise will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit. She never spoke a harsh word about anyone and carried warmth wherever she went.

Denise had a true sense of adventure and a deep love for travel, whether by plane or car. She cherished trips to places like California and Oklahoma, and especially treasured memories of the San Diego Zoo. She also found joy in the simple beauty of flowers, with a special fondness for pink blooms. Denise dedicated 37 years to a career in the insurance industry, where she was known for her professionalism and extensive knowledge.

Services for Denise will be held on Monday, December 29th with a visitation at 1pm, and a funeral service at 2pm in the chapel at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at 1 Pine Knoll Drive Greenville SC 29609. A burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
