Born in Greenville, South Carolina on October 29,1944, he was the son of the late Edmond and Doris Batson. After graduating from Wade Hampton High School, he enlisted in the Army and served a year in Vietnam. Donald started his career working at Winn Dixie, after which he began working in the textile industry where he worked at Fiber, then worked at Sunoco before retiring from NTM.
Donald enjoyed fishing and camping with his family, especially at Lake Keowee. During the winter, he liked to visit the mountains, specifically Gatlinburg or Hendersonville, and if he was not in the mountains, he liked to spend time in Florida. Donald loved football, particularly the Denver Broncos and Clemson Tigers, and he also enjoyed auto racing.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his son, Allen Batson.
Visitation will take place on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park after the service.
