Doris Bowman Fisher, age 97, entered into eternal peace on Friday, February 6, 2015 at The Haven at Chanticleer in Greenville, South Carolina.
Doris was born on December 13, 1917 in Browns Summit, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Walter and Bertha Bowman. She graduated from UNC-Greensboro with a B.A. in Biology and English. She was a teacher in Concord, North Carolina, a member of AAUW, and volunteered for various organizations throughout her life. Doris was an active and long time member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church where she served on the flower guild for over fifty years. Doris was a woman of great faith and strong character. She was an exceptional cook and gardener, a loving woman with a kind and generous heart who remained active for most of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Dottie McFall; son, L. Foy Fisher III; grandchildren, Katherine Robles, Will Fisher, Leslie Fisher, Courtney Van Fossen and Brad McFall; great-grandchildren, Elliot Fisher, Elijah Fisher, Lily Robles, Oliver Van Fossen and Lydia Van Fossen.
Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-five years, L. Foy Fisher, Jr.; brothers and sisters, Ruth Jessup, Nancy Wagner, Howard Bowman, Mack Bowman, Bill Bowman and Harry Bowman.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 8, 2015 at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 701 Cleveland Street, Greenville, SC 29601.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
