Doris Helen (Dickert) Jenkins, 85, of Taylors, South Carolina went to be with the Lord early April 14, 2026. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and Amber, her ever-present, feline companion.
She is survived by her daughters, Belinda J. Garrison (Nelson), Cynthia M. Jenkins, and Amelia D. Jenkins; her three grandchildren, Emily M. Owens (Brad), Daniel W. Turner (Chella Keith), and Eva M. Lewandowski (Keith); and one great-grandchild, Hanz W. Turner. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel P. Jenkins, her parents Lorene R. and Burley T. Dickert, and her sisters Barbara L. Dickert and Carolyn Dickert.
Doris was born in Greenville on March 30, 1941. She enjoyed sewing for her children and grandchildren, and quilting. She was a passionate genealogist and was proud to be recognized as a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants through the relationship to her ancestor John Howland. Doris loved studying genealogy records, family trees, and even enjoyed visiting cemeteries to discover tombstones of distant relatives. She remained a great lover of books and an avid reader until her passing and loved to discuss what she was reading, especially if it was related to history. Doris Jenkins was so many things to each person in her life – there is not enough room in this notice to express all of the roles she played or to express how much she meant to those who knew and loved her. We will each celebrate her life and cherish her memory.
There will be a graveside service at 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 18th, 2026 at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1901 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Greenville, SC 29609.
