
Dorothy Waddell Taylors Dorothy Sue Vaughan Waddell, 82, wife of Colonel Ralph David Waddell Jr., USAF (Ret.), passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in Taylors. Dorothy was born in Ramer, TN, December 15, 1932, to the late Lemuel G. and Ruth Farris Vaughan. She attended Texas State College for Women in Denton, TX, graduating in May 1954 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Home Economics. She married 1st Lieutenant Waddell on May 5, 1956. In 1969, Dorothy received her Master’s of Science Degree in Textiles from Texas Women’s University. Together they travelled extensively to various Air Force assignments for 26 years and in 1981, they moved to Greenville, SC. Mrs. Waddell enjoyed raising her children, cooking, sewing, sailing, and golfing and continued to travel after retirement. She, Ralph and their dog, Pete, travelled to all the contiguous States, enjoying leisurely visiting the National Parks. Mrs. Waddell was a member of the Women in Christ Sunday School Class at John Knox Presbyterian Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband of 58 years, are her three children, Nancy Waddell Grigsby (Jim), David Vaughan Waddell (Sue) and Ellen Waddell Crumbaker (David); two sisters, Lucille Russell and Elinor Warren; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lemuel F. Vaughan. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 28, 2015 in the sanctuary of John Knox Presbyterian Church.
