

Ed was born on April 7, 1936, in Covington, Kentucky, to Elmer and Genevieve Hergott. He built a life defined by dedication, integrity, and quiet generosity.
Ed spent more than 40 years with General Electric, where he was a key member of the team that opened the GE Gas Turbine facility in Greenville. He served as Manager of Design Systems, earning the respect of his colleagues through his leadership, expertise, and commitment to excellence.
Outside of his career, Ed found joy in bowling—where he excelled—as well as golfing, gardening, and, most of all, spending time with his family. Known for his kindness, gentle humor, and unconditional love, Ed leaves behind a legacy that will be deeply cherished by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Hergott; his children Sheryl Fulmer (Jim), Shauna Wright (Rick), and Stephanie Durham (Grant); his beloved grandchildren Chris Fulmer (Sheilagh), Joey Fulmer (Krista), Grace Crocker (Andrew), Heather Edge (Matthew), and Steven Wright (Narianna); and his precious great-granddaughter, Louisa.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Verna Berling.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was marked by love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Services for Ed will take place on January 29, 2026 at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, located at 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC, 29609. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the caregivers, doctors, nurses and Hospice staff for their compassionate care during Ed's final days.
