Edward Monroe Parker, 70, of Taylors died in his sleep from lung cancer and COPD on January 16, 2025 at The Residences at Greer assisted living facility.

He was born in Greenville, SC on February 26, 1954 to Calvin Lee Parker and Nina Ruth Baity Parker. He grew up on Potomac Avenue in Greenville and Fairhaven Drive in Taylors, and in 1972 he graduated from Eastside High School where he excelled at golf, earning two Most Valuable Player awards. After high school he studied at Newberry College and worked at several businesses in Taylors including Country Boys Nursery, Winn-Dixie Warehouse, Diamond Wire and Parker Fence Company. As a child he was a member of Holmes Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church in Greenville, and later he became a member of Lee Road Baptist Church in Taylors.

He is survived by his sister Susan Parker Spivey and husband John of Raleigh, NC, nephews Joseph Edward Rittiner of Durham, NC and Michael Parker Rittiner of Raleigh, NC, cousins Brenda Baity of Greenville, Carol Baity Halliday and husband Emmett of Spartanburg, Carol’s sons Jake, Nathan and Alex Erwin and their families and many other cousins in Greenville, Piedmont and Clinton. In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by uncles Joseph Edward Baity, Jr., John Claughton Baity and Thomas Adolphus (T.A.) Staton, aunts Mary Ellen Baity Staton and Ramona Caldwell Baity and cousins John K. Erwin, Sr. and James N. Latshaw.

The family would like to thank the kind and caring staff at The Residences at Greer assisted living facility, Medical Services of America Hospice and A Place for Mom referral services for the loving and compassionate care they provided to Eddie and his loved ones. He will be laid to rest privately at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville.
