Elizabeth Laurens Smart Charles, 90, of Greenville, SC passed away on Monday, October 17, 2011. Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Henry and Ada Letherenda Kirby Laurens. She did accounting work, loved to travel, loved being around her family and neighbors, and was of the Methodist faith. She is survived by her husband: Howard L. Charles of Greenville; a daughter and son-in-law: Shannon and Steve Rochester of Greenville; two sisters: Margaret Shurbutt of Lyman and Patricia Miller of Myrtle Beach; three grandchildren: Jennifer Church, Julia Holmes, and Jessica Rochester; two great-grandchildren: Thomas Church III and Cameron Church. She was predeceased by her first husband: Oliver Smart; a son: Gregg Smart; two brothers: Jim and Pete Laurens and a sister: Mary Laurens Pruitt. Funeral service will be Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 2:00 pm with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 – 2:00 pm on the funeral home.
