Eric spent his childhood growing up in Greer, South Carolina, where he was a talented baseball player and record-breaking swimmer! At Riverside High School, he met the love of his life, Sarah and together, they attended the University of South Carolina - go Gamecocks! In 2010 they married and began building the foundation of a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering partnership. Eric was known for his kind heart, quiet strength, and devotion to those he loved. That love grew even deeper in 2014 when their son Hall was born!
His warmth, sense of humor, and gentle presence touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing a laugh (and a beer), or simply being a steady and supportive presence, Eric had a rare gift for making people feel seen and valued.
He found his greatest joys in sharing movies and comedy with others. Always quick with a “dad” joke and some witty humor. But nothing meant more to him than time spent with those he loved, especially his beloved son, Hall. His deep love for his family, including their three dogs, was woven into every part of his life. His legacy lives on through all the “laff”ter, memories, values, and love he leaves behind.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Laffler and their cherished son, Hall; his parents Brian and Barb Laffler; sister Kristen Laffler Iavarone (Francesco), and brother Ryan Laffler; nephew Eli and nieces Stella and Ella. He also leaves behind a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and countless friends who will always remember his humor, warmth, and genuine good nature.
Eric’s sudden departure leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his spirit will continue to guide, comfort, and inspire all who knew him. We find peace in the promise of knowing we will one day meet again.
"So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you." John 16:22
