

Frances Capers Bouton, 92, died peacefully on May 2, 2016. Frances was born on May 11, 1923 in Augusta, Ga to Anderson “Buddy” and Louise Capers. She was the beloved sister of brothers Anderson “Brother” Capers and Stewart Capers, and sister, Marion “Chummy” Peterson.
She graduated from Tubman High School in 1938 and Augusta College in 1940. Frances married William I. “Bill” Bouton of Ware Shoals, SC on August 17, 1942 during World War II. Frances and Bill were married for 46 years and raised seven children together. She was predeceased by husband, Bill, their sons, Bill, Jr. and Capers, and daughter, Margaret Bouton Ketcham. Frances is survived by four sons: Ralph Bouton and his wife, Becky, of Greenville; Charles Bouton of Los Angeles, CA; Henry Bouton and his wife, BT, of Charleston, SC; and Bob Bouton and his wife, Jane, of Greenville; Capers’ widow, Jeanne Bouton, of Greenville; ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.
Frances, a devoted wife, homemaker, and mother, was known for her infectious laugh. Frances and Bill were charter members of Westminster Presbyterian Church where Frances was recognized with the Presbyterian Women Lifetime Membership Award. Frances was an active member of the Junior League of Greenville, a regular Meals on Wheels volunteer, enjoyed golf at the Greenville Country Club, tennis on her home court, bridge, painting, and sewing. Frances and family give much thanks for Cindy Stewart, Stephanie Fuller, Jackie Seward, Lisa Griffin, and staff of Foothills Presbyterian Community and Lutheran Hospice who provided loving care for Frances.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Woodlawn Remembrance Chapel with committal and greeting of friends immediately following graveside at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2310 Augusta Street, Greenville, SC 29605 and the new chapel at Foothills Presbyterian Community, 205 Bud Nalley Drive, Easley, SC 29642.
