

Frances Newton Lowe Cass, 92, of Greenville, SC, died Friday, November 7, 2014. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edmund Hynson Emora Cass. She is survived by four children, Edmund Newton. Cass of Greenville SC, Paul Leonard Cass, of Sacramento, CA (Olga Cass), Robert Brannan Cass (Laura Fleming Cass) of Greenville SC and Anne Cass Carter (Joseph Lester Carter III) of Oakton, Virginia four grandchildren, Brian Arthur Carter, William Cass Carter, Vlasic Michael Cass and Sienna Josephine Cass, and two sisters Virginia Lowe Owens of Greenville and Mabel Lowe Owens of Louisville, Kentucky. Mrs. Cass was born in Water Valley, Mississippi and grew up in Portsmouth, Virginia. She answered the call for workers in Washington DC at the onset of World War II and was a secretary to General Weckerling in the war department. She was one of the first groups to move into the Pentagon when it was completed and worked there until her marriage to Edmund Cass in 1953. Visitation is Tuesday November 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Buncombe Street Methodist Church, followed by the funeral at 12:00 noon and entombment at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Frances was a member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church since moving to Greenville in 1953.
