

Frances worked as a dental hygienist for 46 years. She loved her patients and her work, but mostly meeting people. She was humorous and witty, and got pleasure from making people smile. She was a member of Taylors First Baptist Church in Taylors, South Carolina.
Frances was an animal lover and especially cherished time spent with her horse, Mississippi, and her dogs. She enjoyed working and creating stained glass art, painting, and collecting ceramic figurines. She was especially fond of her painted Santa Claus collection. She was a devoted wife, mother, and companion who was happiest when she could make people smile with a joke or witty remark.
Frances is survived by her husband of 47 years, Edward "Pete" Thompson, Jr., and sons, Edward (Ed) Thompson III (Tia) and Thomas A. Thompson (Alexis); along with three grandchildren, Ward, Charlotte, and Parker; and sister, Anne Reneau. She was predeceased by her parents, Jefferson Alexander Long and Nell Brown Long, and brother, Jerry Long.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn, 1 Pine Knoll Dr. Greenville, SC 29609.
