

He was the son of the late James Roscoe and Mattie Greene of Greer, SC. He is survived by his wife Martha Howell Greene, four children: Barry Greene, wife Elise of Lake City, FL, James Greene, wife Heidi of Boynton Beach, FL, Peggy Greene of San Diego, CA, Stephen Greene, wife Diana of North Myrtle Beach, SC; Sister, Lucille Hendley, husband Dick of Greer, SC, Brothers: Nelson Greene, wife Mildred of Greer, SC and John Angus, wife Flo of Indialantic. FL, stepdaughter: Tanya Foushee, husband Ron of Campobello, SC, seven grandchildren and one great grandson.
Born in Greer, SC, he attended Greer High School and Clemson University where he received a Bachelor of Civil Engineering. He served in the Air Force and was stationed at Palm Beach Air Force Base, in West Palm Beach, FL. and served as the assistant installation engineer for the PBAFB. After his Air Force service, He joined the engineering firm of GEE & Jenson in West Palm Beach, FL and worked for 47 years at the company. He progressed from a young Civil Engineer to Head the company in 1976 and for 25 years. He managed the multi-disciplined company that were involved in major land development projects in Florida, and served as chief engineer for several community development districts and special taxing districts that provided the required infrastructure for land development. Some of his accomplishments included, being project engineer for the company, for engineering work to get Walt Disney World open in 1971. He served the Disney project as chief water control engineer for 30 years.
He was also instrumental in the development of several large scale land developments in Florida, including city of Wellington in Palm Beach County, city of Coral Springs and city of Weston in Broward County, Lehigh Acres in Lee County, Hammock Dunes in Flagler county and Southwood in Tallahassee, FL. Gee & Jenson was bought out in 2004, by CH2M Hill, an international firm, and he continued to work part-time for them until July 2011. He was an active member of the Urban Land Institute for 30 years, a lifetime member of the Florida Engineering Society and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was predeceased by his first wife: Betty Lou Austin.
He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach, FL for 50 years, where he served as chairman of deacons twice, was chairman of finance committee, building committee, capital improvement committee, served on pastor search committee and numerous other committees and then became an active member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church of Taylors, SC, and served as deacon and worked with child evangelism, known as Good News Club at Brushy Creek Elementary School.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Brushy Creek Baptist Church, Taylors, SC from 2:00 – 3:30pm followed by a Memorial service at 3:30pm in the Sanctuary.
