Gaither Sweeney, at the age of 81, went home to be with the Lord April 30th at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He is now joined with his mother and father, Claude and Mary Sweeney. His surviving family that was his world includes his loving wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Sweeney. He was the loving father of two daughters, Angela Westerfield and Lisa Bauter. He was also the loving grandfather to four grandchildren, Reverend Matthew Westerfield and Lauren Westerfield, and Devyn and Kaleb Bauter. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Billie Perry, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Gaither proudly served his country and was an Army veteran. He attended and served as Deacon at Old Fashioned Baptist Church. He loved to sing about his Lord and Savior. He was a business owner for 56 years in underground utilities. Gaither was most content when he was surrounded by his family.
Services will be held at Northwest Baptist Church Saturday, May 17th at 11 o’clock, 20 Blue Ridge Drive, Travelers Rest, SC.
