Born in Macon, GA, February 20, 1929, Jerry was the son of Herbert Farrell Kraft and Rena Cornelia Radachy Kraft. He is survived by two daughters, Suzy Neal (Danny) and Laura McKee. Also surviving are five Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren. Jerry was predeceased by his loving wife of 70 years, Bobbie Sue McCurley Kraft, and two brothers, Herbert “Skip” Kraft, Jr. and Gordon Kraft.
Jerry studied Electrical Engineering at Clemson College after serving as a Sonar Technician for the Navy during the Korean War. These studies and service prepared him well for a long and rewarding career with Daniel Engineering. After retirement he began a second career as owner of KraftPro carpet cleaning.
After the war, he and his bride Bobbie Sue raised two girls in Greenville, SC. As a Dad, Jerry was Top of the Class, teaching his girls to play sports, always attending school events, and cracking jokes at just the right time. In his mid-forties, Jerry made Jesus his Lord and Savior after which he pursued the things of God with zeal. He and Bobbie were founding members of Mt Zion Christian Fellowship where they served as greeters and small group leaders. Jerry also enjoyed singing in the choir. During their twilight years, the couple made Freedom Church in Mauldin their church home.
Jerry’s hobbies included a lifelong love for golf which he shared with his wife and girls. As a teen, he earned his private pilot’s license and later took his girls along on touch-and-go landings. Other interests included sailing, gardening, scuba diving, baseball, and all things Clemson! In his final years, Jerry spent every minute available in the sunshine, eating apples, and enjoying bacon three times a day!
