Gilbert Wright Dyer, beloved husband of Ruth Slatner Dyer, passed peacefully November 3, 2015 at Brookdale Greenville in his 92nd year. Adoring father of Rhea Dell Parham and Sid Dyer; grandfather of Rhea McConnell, Tammy Cain, Sevrin Dyer, Stefan Dyer, Lindsey Dyer and Leanna Dyer; great-grandfather to Agatha McConnell, George McConnell, Charisma Cain and Dexter Cain; brother to Virginia Cassens. Gilbert was born in Gallia, Ohio to the late Waldo Dyer and Alma Lee Dyer. In addition to his parents he was preceded by a granddaughter Abigail Rose Parham; brothers Chet, Lee and Larry and a sister Vivian. He was a graduate of Oregon State University, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII. Mr. Dyer worked for the Farmer’s Home Administration as a district supervisor, and was a member of Fellowship Presbyterian Church (PCA), Greer, SC. Committal service Thursday, November 12, 2015 at M. J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Anderson, at 3:00 p.m.
