Gilda H. Crane, 89, widow of James Ross Crane II passed away on Tuesday February 10, 2015. She was born in Danielsville, Georgia on October 20, 1925, the youngest of eight children by the late Eugene and Stella Hardman. Gilda was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and The Greenville Women's Club. Together with her dear friend Jim Bowen, Gilda enjoyed travel, crossword puzzles and Atlanta Braves Baseball. Mrs. Crane took great pleasure in "simple things" and gift-giving. As a retired teacher, she encouraged others to pursue higher education and adopt a strong work ethic. Surviving are her two sons, James Ross Crane III and Steven Aubrey Crane (Heidi); two grandchildren, James Ross Crane IV (Renee) and Erica Nicole Smoak (Fletcher); a granddaughter, Madison Aubrey Smoak and 16 nephews and nieces. Donations in her honor may be contributed to The South Carolina Alzheimer’s Association and Greenville Humane Society. A private memorial to celebrate for Gilda's life will be scheduled in March at the residence of Steve and Heidi Crane on 208 Bridgewater Drive.
